National Railway Museum, York
Four A4 Pacifics lined up for a short period in the early afternoon of both days whilst the Steam Dreams "Coronation" railtour runs through the city. Along resident No. 4468 "Mallard" will be Nos. 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley", 60009 "Union of South Africa" & 60019 "Bittern". Note that enry to this part of the NRM site is chargable for this event and is not included in the usual free admittance to the museum.

Nunney Castle on Shakespere

2 Jul 08
In a change of usual motive power for the Vintage Trains regular Shakespere Express between Birmingham Snow Hill & Stratford Upon Avon on Sunday 6th July, the train will be hauled by Castle No. 5029 Nunney Castle.

WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY LOCO PROBLEMS

16 Jun 08
The West Somerset Railway has suffered from some abnormal flange wear problems following reprofiling of the rail head earlier this year.
Regretfully the railway has been forced to withdraw GW 2-8-0 No. 3850, S&D 7F No. 88 and Mogul No. 9351 from service for attention. It is possible that 3850 will not re-enter traffic until the end of the season but this is subject to confirmation. Meanwhile services are being handled by No. 4160 and 5553, which are less affected due to having pony trucks at either end, and diesels covering some services. West Highland locos 2008

7 May 08
It has now been confirmed that the locomotives to work the Fort William to Mallaig trains for the 2008 season are K1 No. 62005 and Black 5 No. 45407 from the start of the season with a change likely fairly early in the season to Black 5 No. 45231. This engine ius also expected to take part in the August end of BR steam anniversary runs in England, however it is unknown at this stage what the replacement will be unless the K1 soldiers on alone for a few weeks. It is not expected that the K4 No. 61994 will appear on the West Highland extension line this season at ths stage!
